Freedom24: Where do Cypriots Invest?

A recent study by Freedom24 reveals that Cypriots prefer investing in real estate and stocks, with half of the population not using any investment instruments at all.

The survey included residents of Cyprus, asking them about their preferences in choosing investment products. The main instruments considered are real estate, CSE stocks, cryptocurrencies, global markets stocks, foreign currencies and mutual funds.

Following quality controls, a valid 505 interviews were processed for data analysis. Results were weighted by age and sex to account for minor deviations from the target population. Target Audience is Individuals 25+, residing in urban areas.

Key findings:

The study identifies certain demographic trends among investment enthusiasts. Investment products users are more likely to be men, middle-aged people (45 to 64 years old) with higher education.

George Karageorgos, Head of Representative Office in Greece at Freedom24, said: “The enduring popularity of real estate shows a strong preference for tangible assets. Additionally, the rising interest in cryptocurrencies reflects a shift towards modern digital assets and their growing acceptance.

The finding that half of the target audience does not use any investment products indicates a lack of awareness and financial literacy. I believe that financial education could give more Cypriots an opportunity to explore diverse investment instruments. In Freedom24 we’ve recently launched an online academy for our platform users. Courses, developed by professional analysts and investment experts, will be useful for newcomers and anyone interested in investment.”
