'Vision 2035' for the Cypriot economy to be updated

The Long-Term Strategy for the Sustainable Development of the Cypriot Economy, also known as 'Vision 2035', will be updated, the President of the Cyprus Economy and Competitiveness Council, former Minister of Finance, Takis Klerides has said.

The Strategy comprises of a set of actions, reforms and institutional changes for the new development model of the Cypriot economy. The central message of the plan is the transformation of Cyprus into one of the best places in the world to live, work and do business.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Klerides said that the Council decided to update the Strategy and a request will be submitted to the European Commission for financing the project.

In his statements, Vice-President of the Council, Andreas Ashiotis, recalled that the  Long-Term Strategy began in 2020, was submitted for public consultation and ratified by the Council of Ministers in 2022. 

He also said that some of the provisions of the Strategy have already started to be implemented and that provisions were included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

In addition, he noted that according to a provision included in the Strategy, it should be updated every five years.
