University of Nicosia Medical School call for Simulated Patients

The University of Nicosia Medical School is currently in need of Simulated Patients, between the ages of 18 – 35 and 60 – 75 years of age, with excellent command of the English language.

Simulated Patients enact specific roles of patients with different clinical problems (e.g. asthma, back ache, heart problems, etc.) during teaching and/or assessment sessions and are trained to give direct feedback to medical students on their performance during teaching sessions.

Selection Process:

  • Step 1: Complete and submit your application form the latest by Thursday 29 August 2024. The application form can be downloaded by clicking here.
  • Step 2: After submitting your application form, your application will be reviewed and upon successful screening you will be invited to attend a 4-hour training session towards the end of September 2024. You will be informed of the specific date ahead of time.
  • Step 3: During the 4-hour training session you will learn how the clinical communication sessions are taught as well as how to give feedback to students. You will be given written patient scenarios and you will be observed performing the role and you will be evaluated based on your performance.
  • Step 4: Upon successful completion of the training, you will be offered a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the University of Nicosia Medical School. The SLA details information including job duties and reimbursement.
  • Step 5: Once you join our team you will be invited to participate in different sessions and Assessments throughout the Academic Year on an ad-hoc basis, based on our demands and your availability. At the beginning you will need to shadow some sessions in order to gain a better understanding of what it involves by observing other experienced simulated patients. The sessions you will observe are not reimbursed. The sessions you will participate as active simulated patient are reimbursed.

If you’re interested in joining the UNIC team, send your application form to Ioannis Karayiannis, Simulated Patients Coordinator, at karayiannis.i@unic.ac.cy or call him on 22471993.
