Paul Broderick: MUFG is deeply committed to our Cyprus operational centre

“The business climate is expanding significantly and MUFG Investor Services is pleased to be part of that evolution, Paul Broderick, Executive Director, Head of Cyprus, MUFG Investor Services says.

In an interview with InBusinessNews, he also notes, among other things, that, “We’re deeply committed to our Cyprus operational centre, which we opened in mid-2022. We’ve hired more than 200 people, about 90% of whom are local hires, and we plan to continue growing.”

The Executive Director, Head of Cyprus, MUFG Investor Services, in addition, shares the company’s approach to human resources.

Human resources are undoubtedly an investment for a company. What the human factor stands for you as a company:

We’ve created a positive, people-centric culture and adopted our employee value proposition—being “Brilliantly Different”—that are differentiators for our firm. We care deeply about our colleagues and have created a collaborative, inclusive environment that welcomes diversity and a wide range of viewpoints. Everyone has a voice and a seat at our table, and we’ve made mental health and the wellbeing of our colleagues a priority.

In a challenging business environment, what are the prerequisites today for the right management model of human resources in an organisation aiming for its sustainable development?

Sustainable development is critical to our management model. We’re very focused on hiring and training, and we have an aggressive DEI program. A leader in our global ESG program is based in Cyprus, and we examine the environment impact of everything we do. Sustainability is a key factor in our growth strategy and how we conduct business every day.

Earlier this year, the IN Business Awards celebrated their 16th anniversary. Why does such initiative do have their own special significance for the evolution of the business landscape of Cyprus?

The business climate is expanding significantly and MUFG Investor Services is pleased to be part of that evolution. Cyprus is attracting a wide range of companies, particularly in financial services, who recognise many of the same things that we see: Cyprus has a superb workforce and pool of talent, strong legal framework, excellent higher education opportunities, and solid technology infrastructure.

In a field with a strong competition, what is the significance of this nomination for you and what practices do you consider that they have distinguished you and you were nominated for the award in the category of Best Workplace/ Employer of Choice?

We’re deeply committed to our Cyprus operational centre, which we opened in mid-2022. We’ve hired more than 200 people, about 90% of whom are local hires, and we plan to continue growing. Last year, we moved into a new building in Limassol that provides a state-of-the-art office environment and amenities that include a canteen and game room. We want our colleagues to enjoy the time spent at work.

  • Who is Who
