Cyprus President and King of Jordan discuss de-escalation initiatives in the region

The President of the Republic Niκos Christodoulides has exchanged views on the evolving situation in the region and on initiatives being developed to avoid further escalation in a telephone conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan.

According to a post by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis on X, the two leaders on 8 August also stressed the need to avoid actions that would further escalate the situation and called on all parties to avoid such actions in order to maintain peace and security.

President Christodoulides and King Abdullah II agreed to remain in close contact as the situation develops, Letymbiotis concluded.
