Bounced cheques worth €57,129 issued in August

A total of 30 bounced cheques worth €57,129 were issued in August 2024, according to data published by the Central Bank of Cyprus.

The total number of legal and natural persons registered on the preliminary list of the Central Information Register for the Issuers of Dishonoured Cheques (CIR) was 16, including 11 legal and five natural persons.

In the corresponding month of 2023, only nine cheques were registered, but for a higher total value of €78,108.

During the period January - August 2024, 209 cheques with a total value of €420,492 were entered in the preliminary list of CIR, compared to 218 cheques in the same period last year, with a total value of €693,918. The bounced cheques in the eight months of 2024 concerned 101 persons (69 legal entities and 32 individuals).

In addition, the number of persons registered in CIR reached 15 in August 2024, of which six are legal persons, four natural persons and five natural persons controlling legal entities.

In the eight months of 2024, a total of 147 persons were registered in CIR, compared to 193 persons in the corresponding period of 2023.
