Honorary event for Olympic medalist Pavlos Kontides at Ayia Napa Marina

With a special event at Ayia Napa Marina, sailor Pavlos Kontides celebrated the second Olympic Silver Medal of his career — Cyprus' second medal in the history of the Olympic Games — while also thanking everyone who supported him on this long journey to the “Paris 2024” Olympics.

The event took place on 17 September at Le Sundeck Robuchon at Ayia Napa Marina, in the presence of the media, fellow athletes, local community representatives, sponsors, and supporters of the Olympic medallist.

The event commenced with a press conference, during which Pavlos Kontides expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the media, supporters, and sponsors who contributed to his Olympic achievement. In his speech, Pavlos underscored the love and support he received from the local and international community, highlighting the pivotal role his sponsors, such as Ayia Napa Marina, played in his athletic journey.

A celebratory party in honour of the athlete followed, attended by current and former athletes from the Cyprus Olympic team, Mr Yiannis Karousos, president of the Famagusta District Self-Government Organization, Mr Giorgos Nikolettos, Mayor of Paralimni-Deryneia, and Mr Christos Zannettou, Mayor of Ayia Napa, showcasing the unity and support from the community.

Ayia Napa Marina organised and hosted the event at the elegant space of Le Sundeck Robuchon, where guests were treated to delicious dishes. A surprise was also in store for the honoured athlete, with three signature cocktails, The (Classic) PK, The Medallist, and Sailing Breeze, created and served as a special tribute to Pavlos and his remarkable achievements.

The evening concluded with memorable moments for the athlete and the guests in a joyous and celebratory atmosphere.
