Cyprus Marine Club hosts first Get Together after summer break

Cyprus Marine Club Limited (C.M.C.L) hosted its first Get Together after the summer break, on 17 September at Gazebo Mare.

The President of C.M.C.L, Capt. Eberhard Koch, welcomed the new Corporate Members of the Cyprus Marine Club in his opening statement; One Global Insurance Broking Ltd and Michael Kyprianou Law Firm as well as Sabine Teller – new Individual Member.

He further announced the events schedule for 2024, which include a WINE & DINE event opened for members and their spouses taking place on 5 October at Ktima Gerolemo, Omodos, the regular Get Together on 31 October with RIGHTSHIP; and on 3 December, Julian Bray, Editor in-Chief, Tradewinds has accepted the Club’s invitation to “walk the talk” for the Club Members.

The CMC will also participate in the Thalassa Event, organised by the Shipping Deputy Ministry on 19 October, while the New Year’s Gala date has also been set for 17 January 2025.

The speaker of the evening, Revd. John Attenborough, Regional Director, Middle East and South Asia & Chaplain to Cyprus Ports, presented the Past, Present & Future of Mission to Seafarers looking at the Global, Regional and local work of the society.

Revd Attenborough is amongst the most experienced port chaplains of the Mission to Seafarers and has served with distinction in Mombasa, Antwerp, Tilbury and Medway, Southampton, and now Cyprus. Throughout his career, John has demonstrated a strong commitment to seafarers’ welfare, as well as building and leading dynamic volunteer teams.

Revd. Attenborough delved on the importance of the welfare of all seafarers who are the life blood of the Maritime Industry. The Mission to Seafarers is 168 years old and its mission has been to ensure the Welfare of Seafarers and their families. Being that ‘friendly face’ and someone that Seafarers can trust is of vital importance.

The Mission to Seafarers presentation brought on further fascinating conversations among an enthusiastic audience.
