Cyprus to host BIIDPA International Conference on Personal Data

Cyprus will host the BIIDPA (British, Irish and Islands Data Protection Authorities) international meeting, taking place in Larnaca from 26-27 September.

According to a press release from the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, the event is taking place for the first time in Cyprus. The participants will discuss, inter alia, the challenges and obstacles in the daily supervision of the implementation of personal data legislation, the role of data protection officers, anti-money laundering and personal data protection, cookies - national practices and actions, public and private sector compliance and data protection of children.

BIIDPA network’s members are the Data Protection Authorities of Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Malta, and the United Kingdom. The network meets annually at the highest level.

The BIIDPA Commissioners discuss current issues and topics of interest on data protection, they exchange information on the actions and best practices of their Supervisory Authorities and provide information on the level of compliance of organisations and businesses in their countries. In addition, cooperation and communication between the BIIDPA network authorities takes place throughout the year.
