AmCham meets with President of the Cyprus – US Chamber of Commerce Maria Pappas

The Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cyprus (AmCham) recently had a co-operation discussion meeting with Maria Pappas, President of the Cyprus - US Chamber of Commerce (USA).
According to an announcement after the meeting, fruitful deliberations took place as regards ways and means of enhancing collaboration between AmCham and the Cyprus – US Chamber of Commerce (USA).
"Both Chambers agreed on the need to explore synergies in order to further promote and extend the commercial, trade, and economic relations between the Republic of Cyprus and the United States, develop exchanges between their respective industries and trades, and foster business opportunities, as well as closer ties between their members and the businesses communities in the United States and Cyprus," the announcement continued.
They also welcomed the recent encouraging developments in further enhancing the partnership between Cyprus and the USA and the positive repercussions this will bring about in further strengthening the investment, economic, trade, and people – to people relations between Cyprus and the United States, it added.
"In parallel, they also shared the view that joint actions should be undertaken which will consequently improve cross-border business activities, trade relations, investment opportunities and collaboration between Cypriot and American enterprises, such as for Cyprus to be finally admitted to the US Visa Waiver Programme, establishing direct flights, renewing the double tax treaty which has been in force for more than forty years, increasing student exchanges and signing a Social Security Agreement between the US and Cyprus," the announcement went on to say.
Following the Board of Directors meeting, a networking cocktail event took place, during which AmCham’s corporate members, from a wide array of business sectors, also had the opportunity to connect with Maria Pappas, and exchange experiences and entrepreneurial ideas.
