Christodoulides and Herzog meeting "focused regional and international developments"

President Nikos Christodoulides’ meeting with Israeli counterpart Isaac Herzog “focused on regional and international developments”, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said in a written statement.

“President Christodoulides and President Herzog exchanged views on current regional and international issues,” he said. “The discussion focused on the evolving situation in Syria and its potential impact on the Eastern Mediterranean, while also highlighting the stabilising role of Cyprus as a bridge between the region and the European Union.”

Meanwhile, in a post on X, Herzog said that the strong friendship and cooperation between Cyprus and Israel and their peoples are vital pillars of stability, security and hope in the region. He thanked President Christodoulides "for your steadfast friendship and the warm and productive discussion we shared".

The two, he said, "spoke about the issue that is of the highest priority—bringing home the hostages being cruelly held by Hamas in Gaza—as well as the latest regional challenges and the humanitarian efforts in Gaza".
