Cyprus Film Commission presents cash rebate scheme to top industry professionals in London
07:00 - 20 January 2025
The Cyprus Film Commission presented Cyprus' audiovisual incentives, including its generous cash rebate scheme, to an audience of industry leaders including ITV and Amazon Studios, at two events in London recently.
"The Cyprus Film Commission organised two working breakfast events in London, attended by top industry professionals," said Lefteris Eleftheriou, Director & Chairman of the Cyprus Film Commission. "These events provided an opportunity to present Cyprus' audiovisual incentives, including its generous cash rebate scheme."
The events were attended by leading industry companies based in London, such as NBC Universal, Amazon Studios, ITV, and others. London-based Cypriot actress Agni Scott, the star of the Netflix film Find Me Falling, which ranked as a top-viewed movie worldwide for two consecutive weeks during 2025, was also present.
Following the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions about filming in Cyprus.
Eleftheriou told CBN that he highlighted the expertise of Cypriot professionals and the island's unique and diverse shooting locations.
"I briefed producers on the upcoming amendments to the film scheme, which focus on green film policies and the introduction of a 'Young Film Professionals' initiative,” he explained. “Under this new policy, productions will be required to hire emerging local talent. The updated scheme is expected to take effect in the spring."
In 2024, more than 15 productions were filmed in Cyprus by renowned companies such as Amazon Prime, ITV, and Canal+. “For 2025, we anticipate similar activity from leading international studios, further solidifying Cyprus as a premier filming destination," Eleftheriou concluded.
Cyprus' government introduced the package of incentives to encourage international producers to choose Cyprus as their next film destination. In specific, production companies that opt to film in Cyprus can choose between cash rebate or tax credit and can also benefit from tax discounts on investments made on equipment and infrastructure, and VAT returns on expenditure in scope.
Qualifying production categories include, amongst others, feature Films (including animation), television Series or mini-series, documentaries for Theatrical or Television release, animation (digital or analogue), television research programs and natural history.
