Cyprus’ Deputy Communications Commissioner re-elected EMERG chairman for 2025

Cyprus’ Deputy Communications Commissioner, Petros Galides, has been re-elected as Chairman of the European Mediterranean Regulators Group for Electronic Communications Networks and Services (EMERG) for 2025.

According to an announcement by Cyprus’ Office of the Commissioner for Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation (OCECPR), the European Mediterranean Regulators Group – EMERG held its 2nd General Assembly for 2024 online on 19 December, under Galides’ chairmanship.

It said that during the General Assembly, Galides was “unanimously re-elected” as President of the EMERG for 2025, while Bassam Fadel Al-Sarhan, Chairman of Jordan’s Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) was elected President for 2026.

EMERG was founded on 1 July, 2008 in Malta, as an independent platform of the National Regulatory Authorities of the Mediterranean and European countries for electronic communications networks and services. The EMERG Member Countries are Albania, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Montenegro, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Spain, Slovenia, Switzerland, Tunisia and Turkey.
