Successful Green Line Trade Week continuing, organisers say

The Green Line Trade Week, which launched on 20 January, is continuing with various events aimed at providing a platform for businesses, members of economic and trade chambers, and other stakeholders to connect and explore new trade and collaboration opportunities, organiser EU Infopoint says.

Stakeholders, entrepreneurs, and the public are invited to participate in the week’s events “and help shape the future of trade in Cyprus.”

Supported by the EU and organised by the EU Infopoint and the EU One Stop Shop, the Green Line Trade Week aims to encourage “greater engagement” with Green Line trade and foster wider participation from a diverse group of entrepreneurs, a press release from the organisers said.

The event on 20 January “saw strong attendance from both the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities, providing a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to explore the benefits of Green Line trade and forge new business connections,” it added.

According to the organisers, the week will continue with various events “aimed at providing a platform for businesses, members of economic and trade chambers, and other stakeholders to connect and explore new trade and collaboration opportunities.”

These events “will also highlight the European Union’s ongoing support for Green Line trade, showcasing both past and future EU-backed initiatives, with a focus on reinforcing the Green Line Regulation as a framework for peace and economic prosperity across the island,” the press release noted.

“Green Line trade is a vital component of economic opportunity and inter-community cooperation,” it said, adding that “despite inherent challenges, Green Line trade plays a key role in the ongoing development of Cyprus, offering businesses across the island a unique opportunity for cross-community collaboration.”

The 20 January event programme included opening speeches from Jutta Pomoell-Segurola, Head of Section at the Cyprus Settlement Support Unit, DG Reform, European Commission, Andreas Andreou, Director of Industrial Development, Innovation and Environment at the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mustafa Ergüven, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce.

The programme also featured a presentation on the new B2B matchmaking component of the EU One Stop Shop webpage, followed by an interactive panel discussion where SMEs shared their experiences.

The remaining events of Green Line Trade Week include info sessions on 21 and 22 January in Nicosia and Kazivera respectively, designed to engage businesses in understanding and utilising Green Line trade tools and fostering bicommunal business partnerships and a networking event including the Closing Reception on 24 January, at Garage in Deryneia. This event will also includes a presentation and overview of the application guidelines for the 2025 Stelios Bicommunal Business Cooperation Awards.
