New Helvetia: The historic hotel in Platres to reopen this year following radical renovation
07:43 - 23 January 2025
Work is underway on the complete renovation of the New Helvetia Hotel, in Platres.
After 95 years of operation, the oldest operating hotel in Cyprus closed last autumn, in order to carry out the fifth major renovation in its history.
The hotel's radical facelift is expected to be completed soon, so that it can welcome its guests fully renovated in March 2025. The hotel will be able to host, among other things, weddings and events.
While maintaining its heritage, the historic family-run hotel is modernising its facilities, with renovated rooms, improved dining areas and upgraded services.
The hotel is located in the dense forest of Platres, overlooking the picturesque Caledonia Waterfalls.
The New Helvetia Hotel has been a family-run business with a history of almost a century, since1929, and maintains its vintage glamour, combined with modern authentic experiences.
The building has been included in the EU cultural heritage list and has been renovated according to the regulations for historic buildings.
