A spotlight on the artwork at Parklane, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Limassol
07:12 - 31 January 2025
From the outside, the Parklane Resort & Spa is a verdant oasis, with lush greenery embracing the main buildings that blend seamlessly with the horizon and sea.
Upon entering, you'll be engulfed by a sense of tranquillity and captivated by the grandeur of the interior spaces, flooded with natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows that offer a stunning panorama of the Mediterranean landscape.
But it’s not just the grand scale of the interiors or scenic views that create a profound sense of awe. At every turn, muted tones pop with vibrant accents and colourful artwork by artists from around the world (curated by Atelier 27, Paris) transforms every stay into a truly immersive and inspirational experience.
The breathtaking lobby area immediately invites you to explore and experience Cyprus' cultural heritage, exuding a distinct character defined by neoclassical wall art depicting human figures that pay homage to Cypriot culture and the ancient Greeks.
The sense of drama is accentuated by magnificent hand-blown glass lighting installations crafted by Hunat; a studio founded by the renowned glass artisan Jan Hunat. Inspired by the flower petals used in perfumery, the fluid motion of these delicate glass chandeliers evokes a graceful dance, filling the space with their captivating presence.
Local myths also spring to life in the grand lobby area with a modern interpretation of classical figures by the Italian artist Roberto Ruspoli. His unique grand-scale mural drawing, which was realised in situ, features silhouettes inspired by characters from ancient drama.
Various sculptures further captivate the eye in this meticulously decorated space. Elina Ioannou’s limestone totems greet guests with a nod to Cypriot hospitality, while Spanish artist Carla Cascales’ hand-carved wooden semi-circle wall sculptures are evocative of the fluid motion of the water.
Exquisite craftsmanship enhances the sensory experience and sense of movement. The wall seamlessly connecting the lobby to The Gallery lounge bar is adorned with signature work specially designed for the resort by the British Giles Miller Studio. Aptly named ‘Kyma’ (meaning ‘wave’), this striking composition of 2,000 walnut-coloured wood pieces stands at an impressive two metres tall and stretches eight metres in length, captivating viewers with its fluid elegance and dynamic presence.
Mealtimes at Parklane are also a feast for the senses, filled with unique inspiration. At Lanes restaurant, French designer Victoria Wilmotte’s sculptural mirrors have become a star attraction, playing with perception while representing the profound strength of nature.
Art is also an integral part of your private downtime at Parklane. Start and end every day filled with dynamic energy in Parklane’s Suites, where featherlike sculpted paper by French artist Angèle Guerre graces the walls. A touch of gold reflects the light to create a serene, meditative effect.
Once you’ve recuperated and are ready to head out for a day of sightseeing, be sure to pass by the Explorer Wall in Parklane’s Public Spaces. Here, a collection of archival photographs beautifully showcases the rich history of Limassol and the resort, where ancient culture and contemporary life converge, inviting you to become part of this historical journey.
At Parklane, every detail tells a story, and every carefully selected work of art reflects the essence of the resort’s unique identity, harmoniously integrating a sense of place and a feeling of creative euphoria into your inspirational experience.
