The Presidential Palace in Nicosia will host the official start to the road to Limassol and FIBA EuroBasket 2025

The Cyprus Basketball Federation (CBF) is organising a Gala Dinner to mark the official start of the road to the FIBA EuroBasket 2025.

The event will take place on Tuesday, 4 February, at 7.30pm, at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia.

The European Basketball Championship in Cyprus will begin on 28 August, 2025 and conclude on 4 September, with 15 matches taking place in Limassol, Cyprus and the Spyros Kyprianou Arena.

Europe’s top basketball teams will gather on the island, attracting the interest of fans from all around the world. Six teams will compete on Cypriot soil, before the knock out rounds in Riga, Latvia, including hosts Cyprus, partner federation Greece and four other national teams, which will be known during the FIBA draw in March 2025.

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, His Excellency Nikos Christodoulides, will address the Gala Dinner, in the presence of FIBA’s Secretary General Andreas Zagklis, President of FIBA Europe Jorge Garbajosa and FIBA Europe Secretary General Kamil Novak. The event will also be attended by Government and sports officials, sponsors, and other delegates.

The Gala Dinner being hosted at the Presidential Palace under the auspices of the President of the Republic, is evidence of the government’s strong support of FIBA EuroBasket 2025, while presenting Cyprus with another opportunity to showcase its ability to host international sporting events.

The European Basketball Championship taking place in Cyprus is expected to enhance local infrastructure, strengthen the economy, and promote Cyprus as an attractive destination for major international events.

Laying the foundation for the largest sporting event ever hosted by our island, the Cyprus Basketball Federation (CBF), and the Local Organising Committee, are ready to undertake the organisation of the sporting event, marking a historic moment for sports and the country as a whole.
