Businesses to be asked to take part in CySTAT study on labour costs

CySTAT has announced the launch of the Labour Cost Survey with a reference year of 2024.
The survey is conducted every four years based on the Official Statistics Law of 2021 (L. 25(I)/2021) and in accordance with the provisions of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1726/1999, on the implementation of Council Regulation (EC) No. 530/1999 concerning structural statistics on earnings and labour costs, a relevant CySTAT announcement states.
The purpose of the survey, which is conducted on a sample basis, is to collect data to calculate the amount and structure of labour costs.
The information requested from businesses for the year 2024 and which must be completed electronically and submitted online are:
- Employed personnel
- Overtime for employees
- Staff absences (leaves of absence, holidays, sick leave, etc.)
- Total labour cost
The data collection will take place during the period February 2025 - June 2025. For this purpose, CySTAT staff will contact the enterprises selected in the sample by telephone, in order to obtain the contact details of the individuals from each enterprise who will undertake the completion of the questionnaire via the internet.
Subsequently, an email will be sent to the businesses with instructions for completing the online questionnaire.
In case businesses wish to check that the telephone number that has called them is actually used by CySTAT personnel, they can register the telephone number calling them through a special tool, which is available on CySTAT’s web portal, for confirmation.
According to the Official Statistics Law of 2021 (L. 25(I)/2021), CySTAT is obliged to keep the information it collects confidential and to use it exclusively for statistical purposes.
Additionally, it is noted that, based on article 13(2) of the Law, the provision of data for statistical purposes by any person is mandatory.
Non-compliance in providing information may result in sanctions, based on the provisions of article 19 of the Law.
