Stefan Baumert: TUI will continue to build on its successful operations in Cyprus

TUI's success in Cyprus and its commitment to sustainable development were the focus of an address by Stefan Baumert, Chief Commercial Officer Markets at TUI Group, at the 46th Hotel Industry Conference & HORECA Expo organised by the Cyprus Hotel Association.

More specifically Baumert stated that TUI’s strategy in Cyprus was paying off, going on to underline the Group’s strong presence in the local tourism industry, as well as the group's future investment prospects on the island.

According to the data he presented, TUI remains the largest tour operator in Cyprus, with over 550,000 customers annually, while the arrivals record that has been set is 600,000 visitors by the financial year 2026.

Baumert noted that TUI has been operating in Cyprus for more than 50 years and is continuing to strengthen its presence by investing in new products and markets.

One of the key points of his speech was the company's strategy to enhance the traveler experience through the promotion of TUI concept hotels, which have already attracted 160,000 customers in Cyprus.

Baumert emphasised the important role of TUI's local partners, joint ventures and owned hotels in maintaining high quality services.

At the same time, he referred to the expansion of TUI's activities in Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania, which opens up new development opportunities for Cypriot tourism.

It is noteworthy that 67% of TUI customers in Cyprus choose GSTC-certified hotels, strengthening the sustainable tourism development of the island.

Emphasis was also placed on the flexibility of travel options offered by TUI, with an extensive air coverage that includes 125 of the company's aircraft, combined with partnerships with third-party carriers.

In addition, Baumert announced the extension of the winter tourism season from the United Kingdom until 16 November, which strengthens the season and contributes to the economic development of the sector.

Finally, Baumert underlined the company's commitment to sustainability through the TUI Sustainability Agenda: People, Planet, Progress programme, which focuses on the harmonious coexistence of tourism with the environment and society.

With an eye on the future, TUI continues to invest in Cyprus, promoting innovation and responsible tourism development, he said.
