Kuwaiti Ambassador stresses importance of strengthening dialogue between Cyprus, GCC annd Arab countries

The Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Republic of Cyprus, Abdullah Musaed Al-Khorafi has emphasised the importance of strengthening the dialogue and rapprochement between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Cyprus, as well as between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the Arab countries and Cyprus.

He was speaking on the sidelines of a luncheon he hosted on at his residence in Nicosia on 4 February.

According to a press release by the Embassy of the State of Kuwait, the event was held in honour of the President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, Annita Demetriou, within the framework of high-level meetings and gatherings organised by the Diplomatic Mission of the State of Kuwait in Cyprus. The luncheon was attended by all Ambassadors and Heads of Arab Diplomatic Missions accredited to the Republic of Cyprus, as well as the U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus and the Swiss Ambassador to Cyprus.

On the sidelines of the luncheon, Ambassador Al-Khorafi hosted an expanded meeting with his guests, focused on the most important regional and international developments, particularly those concerning the Middle East, including the developments in Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine.

The meeting also addressed prospects for joint cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus, GCC countries, and other Arab countries. The discussions highlighted the ongoing efforts and mutual desire of all parties to strengthen and elevate these relations to higher levels, particularly in areas of common interest, such as education, culture, investment, tourism, trade, and fostering closer ties between people.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Khorafi underlined the importance of strengthening the dialogue and rapprochement at both the official and public levels between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Cyprus, as well as between the GCC countries, Arab countries, and Republic of Cyprus. He expressed his appreciation for the presence of the President of the Cyprus House of Representatives, which, as he said, reflects the keen interest of Cypriot officials in enhancing the relations with State of Kuwait and the GCC countries. He noted that this meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views and perspectives on the key issues and developments in the region.

On her part, Annita Demetriou, expressed her gratitude to Ambassador Al-Khorafi for the warm hospitality and welcome, noting that such initiatives reflect the depth of the excellent relations between the Republic of Cyprus and the State of Kuwait, the announcement continues. Demetriou also expressed her happiness and satisfaction with the fruitful meeting and discussions held with Ambassador Al-Khorafi and the ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Arab states, it is added.

She highlighted that the meeting addressed many important issues of common concern at the bilateral and regional levels, as well as frameworks for joint cooperation and strategic relations between Cyprus and Arab countries.
