CBC: €42,493 in bounced cheques last month

The amount of bounced cheques issued in February 2025 remained at the same level as the previous month, according to the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), which notes that the number of cheques however, showed an increase. 

As it said, 34 bounced cheques were issued, with a total value of €42,493. The total number of persons registered on the preliminary list for issuers of bounced cheques maintained by the Central Bank, amounted to 14 in February 2025, of which 8 were legal entities and 6 natural persons.

In January 2025, 16 bounced cheques were issued, with a total value of €42,062, and the total number of persons registered in the CBC's preliminary register was 10 (3 legal entities and 7 natural persons).

Furthermore, the number of persons registered in the CBC's Central Information Register in February 2025 amounted to 12, of which 4 were legal entities, 3 natural persons and 5 natural persons controlling legal entities.

It is noted that for the entire year of 2024, 202 persons were registered in the CIR, while their number in 2023 was 274.
