Through the rolling Colli Euganei hills in the Veneto region of Italy, we got to experience the legendary, Ford Capri reborn as a fully electric vehicle after its retirement in the 1980s. The full experience of the Capri came to life during the test drive event, held just before the high season in the hills outside Venice.
First introduced in 1969, Capri was already a motoring icon with more than 1.8 million cars produced. The 2024 revival marks the first new Capri in nearly four decades. While its design has evolved, the new model retains elements reminiscent of the original, such as the distinctive headlights and window shapes.
The New All-Electric Capri was engineered in Europe for European drivers. Ford specialists at the company’s development centres in Cologne, Germany, and Lommel Belgium, fine-tuned the suspension, steering and chassis to deliver a responsive driving feel that’s worthy of the Capri badge.

The drive around this northern Italian trek, filled with quaint villages nestled among hilltops, rivers, and vineyards couldn’t have been smoother, with the Capri’s ride height and roof height helping to give the coupe a lower centre of gravity, which allowed it to stay more level around corners for a serene journey through a landscape full of lush greenery along winding roads.

In its interior, the Capri was fully equipped with all the modern comforts, including a 14.6 inch touch screen that could be raised to find additional storage space. The car was fully compatible to receive mobiles, wirelessly charge phones, and provide real-time navigation and access to hundreds of radio stations with the B&O Speaker system.

The comfort during the drive didn’t stop at all the tech features, but also at the smooth leather seats, the unique ‘squircle’ steering wheel, and the massage driver’s seat that made the ride all the more comfortable.

Regarding its safety, the New All-Electric Capri is equipped with all the latest features, including Pre-Collision Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control. The Driver Assistance Pack features 12 ultrasonic sensors, five cameras and three radar sensors, all with one mission: to support you on your journey.

Demonstrating its sporty capabilities, the Capri offers two electric powertrains. The 286 PS rear-wheel-drive model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, while the all-wheel-drive variant achieves this in just 5.3 seconds.

For those interested in experiencing the new Capri firsthand, it is available in Cyprus starting at €39,900. With the current government electrification subsidy of €9,000 and an additional €2,000 discount from Michaels Automotive, the price can be reduced to €28,900.
