08:01 - 24 April 2025

After signing the deal that changed the food retail map, Sklavenitis Cyprus is continuing to implement its investment plan for the renovation of the nine stores in the Papantoniou chain, which it acquired in November 2024.
After opening a store in Engomi last March, another Sklavenitis Cyprus supermarket recently opened its doors.
The first openings in Engomi and Ypsonas
At the beginning of April, the new Sklavenitis store in Ypsonas began operating, joining the group following an agreement with Papantoniou Supermarkets.
The store, with 3,500 sq m of exhibition space, is located at 20 Petraki Giallourou Street in Limassol and features, among other things, a butcher's shop, a greengrocer's shop, a fishmonger's shop, cheese and cold cuts, ready-made meals, household items & seasonal items, a bakery and an open-air patio space.

In addition, it has a total of 200 parking spaces. It is noted that Sklavenitis Cyprus operates eight stores in Limassol.

It is recalled that a store had previously been opened in Engomi, which is located at 27 Vasileos Pavlou Street.
The former Papantoniou Supermarket in Engomi, which was renovated and integrated into the Sklavenitis Cyprus network, adopting the model followed in the chain's existing 18 supermarkets, opened on 1 March, 2025.

The store in Engomi, with 2,900 sq m of exhibition space, features, among other things, a butcher's shop, a greengrocer's shop, a fishmonger's shop, a bakery, cheese and cold cuts, ready meals, household items & seasonal items, and a restaurant.
In addition, the store has a total of 195 parking spaces.
In Nicosia, the Sklavenitis chain operates nine stores.
Renovations are progressing.
Sklavenitis Cyprus' investment plan to renovate all stores acquired after the absorption of Papantoniou Supermarkets is progressing, as the goal is for the "Sklavenitis system" to be adopted throughout the network and for the work to be completed by autumn or at the latest by the end of 2025.
The nine Papantoniou stores are expected to be fully integrated and operate under the Sklavenitis brand in a short period of time, while the goal is also to complete the legal and tax aspects of the acquisition within 2025.
The Sklavenitis-Papantoniou deal, which secured the approval of the Commission for the Protection of Competition last October, is expected to create an all-new chain with an estimated total annual turnover of close to €400 million.
After the acquisition of the nine Papantoniou stores, Sklavenitis Cyprus has a total of 27 stores, of which nine are in Nicosia, eight in Limassol, seven in Paphos, two in Larnaca and one in Paralimni.
