AUB Mediterraneo assistant professor receives €100,000 research grant from RIF

Dr Rafael Papallas, assistant professor of Computer Science at AUB Mediterraneo, has been awarded a €100,000 research grant under the VISION ERC Call by the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF), the Paphos-based university announced.

The two-year funded project, titled, “Human-Guided Robotic Manipulation for Warehouse Automation with Augmented Reality” will lay the foundation for establishing the Intelligent Robotics Research Lab in Paphos, focusing on intelligent robotic object manipulation.

According to the university, this funding will support Papallas in preparing a compelling proposal to the prestigious European funding, ERC Starting Grant, “further enhancing AUB Mediterraneo’s commitment to excellence in research and innovation.

It added that the project will create opportunities for research collaboration and includes the opening of a postdoctoral researcher position.
